With each sun rise across Sydney, the daily seeds of hope and compassion sown by the generosity of our city has been galvanised by the NSW Government through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.

St. Merkorious Charity (SMC), nestled within the beating heart of Sydney, has long cherished a vision where no one goes to bed hungry and for over 10 years SMC has paved the path to ensuring food security across Greater Sydney.

With this grant SMC will build a highly developed Food Distribution Centre & Sustainable Community Garden Project, with the capacity to provide up to 15,000 meals a week to disadvantaged communities.

By also serving as the dedicated headquarters for SMC, the facility will not only provide emergency crisis relief but also offer vital referral services to empower individuals and families across greater Sydney.

This ambitious project includes the construction of:

1. Large Commercial-Grade Kitchen and Bakery, designed to accommodate 15-20 working staff per shift,
2. A Community Garden where fresh produce can be grown, promoting healthy eating and community involvement,
3. Both a dry and refrigerated goods warehouse essential for our storage and logistical operations,
4. Interview and Counselling Rooms providing a private and supportive environment for client engagement,
5. Office and Call Centre for administrative and community engagement tasks, and
6. Board Room, Print Room, and Training facilities.
