Food insecurity is a hidden crisis in Australia. With a high cost of living and increased economic instability in recent times, many Australians are doing it so tough they don’t have a full meal in their bodies every day.
St Merkorious Charity helps everyone who comes to us in need of help. We are inclusive to all, and provide services to the homeless, financially disadvantaged, migrants, refugees, CALD, the elderly, veterans, the Indigenous, and LGBTQIA+. If you need emergency food assistance, we can help you out with a quick call.
Our food relief service feeds the homeless across 60+ suburbs over Greater Sydney, stretching from Mt Druitt in Blacktown, to Parramatta, Rhodes, the Sydney CBD, and more, delivering food to our community members doing it tough.
Our community meals run weekly, fortnightly and monthly at Fairfield, Rhodes and Burwood respectively. We also provide our food service through a hamper pick-up hub fortnightly at Parramatta Park! We drive our hot meals prepared at our commercial kitchen in Strathfield out to the community, distributing food with fellowship, donation hubs, raffles, hygiene packs, fun games and events and more!
Our location at Rhodes also provides the homeless we bus out to shower and get professional haircuts from our lovely volunteers.
It’s when we are struggling that we need a reminder that there are people there for us. We are never truly isolated. Our community meals are a chance to connect with others over a hot, nutritious meal.

We provide and deliver food to Bass Hill High School’s Breakfast Club. The club provides a filling breakfast prepared by volunteer participating senior grade students to prepare and distribute to the rest of the school community.
The club has been a great success since its inception! Teachers from Bass Hill have reported that school attendance has risen since the breakfast club was introduced, with higher numbers of class participation. Bass Hill has been excited to continue their partnership with St Merkorious Charity in the future.
We are looking to extend our school breakfast club to more schools in the coming year.
Donations of goods, money or food are highly appreciated. We’ll distribute it to those who need it most.

We often receive food from local butcheries and bakeries when they have excess stock, or for special events. If you have some food you want to donate, please contact us, and we’ll help you sort out the details.
