On Sunday, November 11th, the sun was shining and the weather scorching at our beloved Day at the Bay fundraiser.
The day commenced early with a sausage sizzle breakfast and the first group of runners departing. We had various activities and held boot camp sessions throughout the day.
Honouring Remembrance Day, we dedicated a minutes’ silence at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month to pay respect to the soldiers who died fighting for this great nation.
Special thanks must be made to our major sponsors; PAYCE and DASCO who were recognised for their support and presented with a Certificate of Appreciation. Their generosity allows us to continue serving and providing for the disadvantaged. In addition, thank you to the DASCO staff for setting up the venue and assisting with whatever was required. But the biggest thank you must go to our generous and selfless volunteers who served lunch, collected donations, or assisted in any way on the day.
Thank you to Cr John Faker and Jodi McKay MP for presenting the sponsors and race winners with awards and for being loyal supporters of our organisation. Also, thanks to Fr Jacob from St. Merkorious Church, Rhodes for blessing the event.
Overall, it was a fun day enjoyed by everyone, big and small. Bring on a bigger and better Day at the Bay 2020!
