New Food Distribution Centre & Community Garden Coming Soon

As part of the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants (WSIG) Program, St. Merkorious Charity is set to expand its impact with a new Food Distribution Centre and Sustainable Community Garden.

This new facility will enable us to prepare and distribute up to 15,000 meals per week to communities across Greater Sydney. It will also become our new headquarters, vital support services to individuals and families in need.

Key features will include:

  • Large commercial-grade kitchen and food packing area
  • Community garden for fresh produce and healthy eating
  • Large cold food storage and dry food goods storage
  • Private interview room, call centre and counselling rooms
  • Board room, print room & training room
  • Toilets and staff amenities
  • Car parking spaces, for visitors and food van parking and food truck deliveries
  • Sustainable energy sources through our roof solar panels
  • Breakout space for visitors, volunteers and workers

Funding has been provided by:

  • NSW Government: $8,690,000.00
  • Co-Contribution: $225,000.00
  • TOTAL PROJECT VALUE: $8,915,000.00

SOD TURN

St. Merkorious Charity is pleased to announce the commissioning of its builder, being DASCO Australia Pty Ltd, for the long awaited fit-out of the New Food Distribution Facility at 121 Cosgrove Road, South Strathfield 2136, NSW Australia.

Our official sod turning ceremony was held on Thursday 19 June 2025 with the commencement of construction now taking place.

DASCO will be constructing our new premises and this will comprise three levels. The ground floor will incorporate a new kitchen, food storage, food preparation, packing, and washing areas. The first floor will provide for large hamper packing, training rooms and volunteer areas, staff facilities and amenities. The second floor will accommodate the main office, meeting rooms, all administration rooms and reception area.

The project is targeted to be completed by Christmas 2025.
