In 2024, The Australian Chinese Charity Foundation (ACCF) has generously donated $10,000 to St. Merkorious Charity (SMC) to support its Rhodes Outreach Service.

The ACCF contribution has made a significant impact enhancing the charity’s ability to provide essential services to those in need.

For every Rhodes service, St. Merkorious Charity hires two commercial buses which quickly fill with its vulnerable clients who are experiencing homelessness or on the verge of becoming homeless, some of which are young families.

The Charity has faced the difficulty of a considerable rise in hire fees of these buses and the ACCF donation is helping mitigate against this.

The Australian Chinese Charity Foundation, known for its commitment to fostering community spirit and supporting various charitable causes, has once again demonstrated its dedication to uplifting lives through its donation to the Rhodes Outreach Service.

St. Merkorious Charity’s Rhodes service, which plays a crucial role in delivering food, clothing, showering, hygiene, haircuts and other support to vulnerable individuals and families and with its mission to alleviate hunger and poverty, has been a reassurance of hope for many in the community.

The Rhodes service has been instrumental in addressing the needs of those in most need, ensuring they receive fellowship and a sense of community as well as nutritious meals and other necessary support. Some of the clients have commenced training with the Charity to receive qualifications that will enable them to look for work and permanently improve their situation.

The increase in costs for bus hire has become critical and the charity is considering purchasing one bus whilst still hiring a second. This will enable St. Merkorious Charity to continue its Rhodes Outreach Service unhindered and is hoping the generous donation from ACCF will inspire others to donate towards the purchase.

St. Merkorious Charity partnerships with other community organisations, such as the ACCF is what makes a real difference in the lives of many.
